beginner broadway 1 and 2
Beginner Broadway 1 (Ages 6-8)
Beginner Broadway 2 (Ages 8-10)
In the Beginner Broadway classes, students will explore movement, acting and singing for the Musical Theatre stage. Students will learn singing exercises to warm-up and strengthen their voices, practice speech skills for performing monologues and sides for auditions and learn a few basic dance moves! After this class, students will feel more confident going into an audition settings and more advanced classes! 75 minute class

Musical theatre audition workshop
All theatre lovers and performers know that if you want to be in a musical, you must audition. It can be overwhelming. What song do I pick? How do I perform this? How should I mark my sheet music for the accompanist? All these questions and more will be answered in our musical theatre audition workshop. 3 hour class
Participants will work on:
the “dos and dont’s” of auditioning
how to enter and exit the room
introductions
marking music for the pianist (if there is one at the audition)
choosing musical theatre audition pieces that will make an impression
Preparing monologues and sides
Basic dance-steps to know!
what to do when you don’t get the part you want or an audition does not go as planned
Participants will need a pencil, something to write in, and a musical theatre song 16-32 bars of music) that they LOVE to sing. If students don’t have a song, we can provide suggestions.

acting and improv 101
This combined acting and improv class is perfect for the performer who is just stepping on stage and needs the 411, or perfect for a seasoned performer who wants to brush up on the basics! This is a high-energy class for all levels of performers. 3 hour class
In this class we will focus on:
character building
eye contact
thinking on our feet
emotions
surroundings
basic scene and monologue work
and much more
Materials: Participants need something to write with and in, and an open mind and imagination!

Musicianship Bootcamp
So you love to sing, but there’s a problem: you can’t read music! The beginning of the solution starts with our Musicianship Bootcamp! We will help beginners learn to start reading music, and more advanced singers improve their musicianship skills. 2 hour class
Students will review:
Reviewing the musical alphabet
sharps and flats
intervals (the distance between one note and another)
key signatures (the circle of fifths)
Rhythms (quarter, half, dotted half, whole, eighth and sixteenth notes, quarter, half, whole and eighth rests)
Time signatures
Sight singing exercises
Whether you have an upcoming vocal audition for solo or choir work or want to improve your musicianship skills, this is a class that you will want to “tune-in” to! :)

Yoga for performers
Ages: 11 and up
Feeling stressed or anxious about upcoming auditions for band, choir or local musicals? Join this freeing class which will focus on yoga for young performers with a focus on addressing anxiety related to auditions. 60 minute class
Yoga for singers: in this workshop participants will:
learn breathing techniques for anxiety and to help strengthen the lung capacity
go through a series of pre-audition and post audition meditations (that they will get to take home)
stretches to help loosen the neck, back, shoulders, and hamstrings
core work to help develop strong singing posture
grounding standing and balancing work to help focus and ground
Materials: Students will need to bring a yoga mat to the class and wear comfortable clothing
Ages: 11 and up
